Overview
Preventing, controlling and treating emerging infections continue to be an essential focus for clinicians, infection control and public health practitioners, and laboratorians. The 2022 conference will provide new insights and new approaches to treatment and prevention of COVID-19, monkeypox, and other emerging infectious diseases. This continuing education conference in its 28th year, provides a forum for authoritative presentations and discussions on the epidemiology, prevention and control of emerging infectious diseases.
This activity is planned and hosted by the University of Minnesota Department of Medicine in collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Health and Mayo Clinic.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:
- Discuss the latest developments in COVID-19 vaccines.
- Acquire new skills in promoting vaccine confidence in our communities.
- Develop a deeper understanding in how to diagnose, treat and prevent monkeypox.
- Acquire new knowledge about Picornavirus infections.

Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
This activity is eligible for 5.75 ACPE contact hours.

OCPD will complete the upload within four weeks of the conclusion of the activity. American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science
PACE Credit for this event will be provided by the UMN Medical Laboratory Sciences Program using the ASCLS CE Organizer. The course will offer up to 5.75 credits.
